Tornado Hits Eagle Pass, TX and Piedras Negras, Mexico

WFC is called out by Victim Chaplains of Dallas to deploy to Eagle Pass Texas. We are able to borrow Speegleville Christian Centers C-172 to fly in to Maverick County Municipal airport and meet up with several other chaplains in the area to provide chaplain services to the victims. We are sad to learn that a family of 5 was lost in the destruction as their trailer house in Eagle Pass was tossed into an elementary school. We, as chaplains worked in the shelters and with Texas Baptist Men feeding units in Piedras as well as Eagle Pass. It was amazing to see how the Mexican people united to help each other as well as bring their heavy debris clearing equipment over the border to the American side to help. Monte was able to serve Victim Relief Ministries further by transporting a chaplain back to Waco at the conclusion of this deployment.

WFC aids Mission Aviation Fellowship and Brad Westom, MAF mission pilot

Brad Westom, on furlough from MAF Lesotho Africa, needs his Certified Flight Instructor Instrument add-on to his CFI. Monte and Brad do ground training together toward this rating and it is ironic as Brad, you may recall, was Monte's first flight instructor at WFC! Brad took some good natured ribbing about the student teaching the teacher, roles reversed! WFC was able to sponsor a reception for the Westom's on Sat. the 5th and express our love and appreciation for their 14 years of service to MAF and before that to WFC. Thanks Guys!

F5 Tornado rips through Greensburg Kansas

WFC is called out, May 8-18, to serve in the tornado disaster in Kansas as a town of 1600 is demolished. Thankfully only 9 fatalities are recorded. Monte is able to fly north in Mercy Bird and serve as Incident commander for Victim Relief Chaplains and head up a 9 member team. We serve the victims in Greensburg by assisting Salvation Army and Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles as they roam the devastation, feeding the families and relief workers. Much prayer, hugs and tears in this deployment as well as unexpected ministry opportunities. Monte is approached at a town meeting in Greensburg on a Friday evening and asked to preach a funeral for a resident that had passed away just a couple of days before the storm. It seems the funeral home had been destroyed and the family did have the remains of their loved one but no minister to help. Wings For Christ ministry is more than just airplanes so we performed this ministry of Jesus' Love to this family as requested. Monte was able to speak of the Gospel and pray with all 15 in attendance at the Greensburg Ks cemetery. We, as the VRM chaplain team, were blessed to stay in the home of Jon and Deb Folkerts of Haviland Kansas. They are members of the Friends church of Haviland and were so gracious to us. Thank you so much Jon and Deb! We really enjoyed going to church with some real "Quakers"! These people really "walk the walk" of following Jesus in real obedience. A humble thank you from VRM and WFC!

WFC aids Honduran Pastor Adon Villanueva

Monte is able to assist Brother Adon, a Pastor and Spiritual Dad of 117 churches in Honduras. Bro. Adon has several speaking engagements around central Texas and he needed a chauffer and friend to introduce him so we were able to assist in this manner.

This was a joint ministry effort with Monte's home church of Franklin Worship Center, Franklin, TX.; Pastors Rodney and Billie Jo Box. This is a real blessing to serve a local church as Monte's home church helps WFC with a monthly love offering. Would you pray and ask the Lord if He would have you assist us here at WFC with a monthly love offering? Make sure its after your tithe to your local church though OK?

WFC aids MAF pilot in earning Commercial Pilot Certification

The culmination of several months of intense preparation and consultation with the FAA, TSA and Homeland Security have resulted in Wings for Christ hosting Dutch pilot Christiaan Haak. From the Lesotho, Africa program of Mission Aviation Fellowship, Christiaan is a 37 yr. old career missionary pilot serving with our own Brad Westom in the "Mountain Kingdom". With the generous donation of "Mercy Bird" from Gloryland Ministries Ron and Sue Snyder, Monte is able to train Christiaan in the advanced maneuvers of the Commercial Pilot. We Chandelle, Spiral and soar into Lazy Eights over Central Texas enjoying the cool of the altitude. The ground reference maneuvers are fun to learn for the perfection and professionalism of a commercial pilot as Christiaan "eats it up" with great execution! Monte is thrilled to teach an advanced rating in this important partnership with one of the worlds premier Christian aviation ministries. FAA examiner John Foster is happy with the product as he awards Christiaan his U.S. Commercial aviator certificate. This pilot license will make Christiaan much more flexible in responding to future deployments with MAF around the world! A minor maintenance issue was addressed by our excellent Inspector/A&P mechanic Joel New and so a big thank you to you too Joel! WFC training continues be a vital outreach and resource to the Christian Aviation Ministry community.

June 15-17

Monte Michael as VRM Chaplain attends Texas Sheriff Assn. meet.

Victim Relief Ministries national leadership invites WFC to assist in attendance at the Texas State Sheriffs assn. annual meeting in Austin. VRM made a positive impression on local sheriffs in recent Central Texas Flood deployment and work in flood victim shelters and so we were invited to attend this years Sheriffs assn. meeting along with Texas Baptist Men disaster response leader Dick Talley. We were blessed to become part of the Mass Care Response plan of the State of Texas as mental health providers.

July 25-31

WFC responds to D'Hanis, Texas Flood (Hondo area)

Monte is called out by VRM to fly Mercy Bird into Hondo TX to respond as a Victim Chaplain for 1st Baptist Church, Hondo, TX as a component of the Texas Baptist Men Mud out and Laundry unit from La Grange, TX. We were all deployed to assist victims of a "dry creek" flooding event that displaced approx. 250 people in D'Hanis TX. Most of these folks are poor and have little resources. The Hondo church people pitched in beside the mudout crews to help in tangible, loving ways. Flood damage can be some of the most devastating losses a community can suffer and WFC was there to move debris, pray and assist in this recovery for people that Jesus loves. Monte was also humbled to be invited to speak to the 1st Baptist Church of Hondo on Sunday morning.

VRM announces its Houston/Harris county leadership

WFC Mission Minister Monte Michael is invited as volunteer state strike team member of Victim Relief Ministries to attend a Chaplain Training and leadership "stand up" of the Houston/Harris county Texas VRM regional management staff. We meet at Champion Forrest Baptist Church in north Houston and are pleased to welcome Chaplain/Counselor Danny Stanley of Houston and Pastor/Chaplain Debra Prihoda of Jasper to the VRM volunteer leadership team. Monte has been blessed to work with these effective ministers on various VRM deployments and it is exciting to see what God is doing in the ministry of Victim and Disaster Relief. We at Wings For Christ are blessed to have this active and vital ministry partnership.

WFC aids U.S. Army Sgt. Joe Zahirniak of Waco to Iraq deployment.

Pastor Michael Green of 1st Church of God, Hubbard, TX calls WFC to help in a transport mission for a soldier determined to serve his country by redeploying to Iraq. U.S. Army Sgt. Joe Zahirniak of Lacy Lakeview (Waco) has been home 4 days from training at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, TX and has to be back for deployment to Iraq on Monday. His wife Julie has just had double mastectomy surgery 10 days prior and is in no condition to do the 35 hr. turnaround trip to El Paso. Gloryland Ministry partner Sue and Lindsey Snyder come to see Monte, Joe and Pastor Michael off in Mercy Bird as Julie and 4 yr. old Anthony say goodbye to their hero. Many, many tears. Anthony cried, got into Mercy Bird and said he was going with his Dad to Iraq. Minister Sue Snyder helped in comforting the small family as we fired up the engine and winged our way west to take one of this countries heroes to a foreign battle field to defend our freedom. Please pray for this soldier and his family as you remember those who defend us.

September 5, 2007

As I write this to my WFC family, Please pray for WFC and our ongoing mission to reach out in Jesus name. We are in need of the Lords provision (funds) for several areas to continue our service. If you look at our history, I believe it shows a "proven" track record and one that is worth investment and extension. Please pray about one time gifts to WFC or better yet an ongoing monthly partnership with WFC as we "boldly" GO YE into the future with this Love ministry of Jesus!!

On His Wings,

Bro. Monte
